The Museum’s name and location have been several times changed, since 1997 it has been located in Majori. To adjust to the needs of the Museum a dry cleaning building built in 1960s was renovated in 1997 ( Phase I ) and 2004 ( Phase II ) by the architect Indra Grietēna’s project.
Various history and art collections of the Museum comprise in total nearly 52 thousand items. The Museum has several exhibition halls, a permanent history exhibition , a café , a souvenir shop , rooms for seminars and conferences.
